“Prana, hay nguyên sinh khí/nguyên khí sự sống (vital principle) là mối liên hệ đặc biệt của Atma với một hình thức vật chất nào đó mà bằng sự liên hệ của Atma, hình thức vật chất đó tổ chức và kiến tạo nên như một phương tiện để thu thập kinh nghiệm. Mối liên hệ đặc biệt này tạo nên Prana cá biệt (individual Prana) trong cơ thể cá biệt. Prana vũ trụ thấm nhuần vạn vật không phải là Prana theo ý nghĩa thô thiển, mà là một tên gọi dành cho Brahman dưới hình thức là Đấng sáng tạo của Prana cá nhân… Chúng sinh, dù là Thần Thánh (Devatas=Deities), con người, hay con thú, chỉ tồn tại chừng nào mà Prana còn ở trong cơ thể. “Prana, or the vital principle, is the special relation of the Atma with a certain form of matter which by the relation of Atma organises and builds up as a means of having experience. This special relation constitutes the individual Prana in the individual body. The cosmic all-pervading Prana is not Prana in the gross sense, but is a name for the Brahman as the author of the individual Prana….All beings, whether Devatas, men or animals, exist only so long as the Prana is within the body. It is the life duration of all….Prana, or vitality, is the common function of the mind and all the senses.”—Serpent Power, pp. 94, 95.
