7a. Jupiter in the Signs.
The various ways we expand our consciousness, our wisdom, and the ways brotherliness develops.
Jupiter in Aries. The hot-blooded personality traits of the “ram” expand in ordinary man, but so do courage and leadership. There is tremendous power and enthusiasm to initiate and take the lead in adventures and projects. The higher goal is to develop wise leadership skills. During the period that wisdom begins to affect consciousness, a teacher will come into the life and give advice about what to do next. In this case, “transmute desire into an aspiration for higher things and knowledge into wisdom.” When the inner work is done, gradually that which is prophesied will emerge - a wise Aries leader with the skills necessary to direct men and women to their higher good and usefulness.
Jupiter in Taurus. Lust-driven appetites of the “bull” expand in ordinary man with this combination, so that there is a rush to satisfy the lower cravings. There is also an expanded ability to attract abundance and prosperity. But eventually, as the attachments to the material world begin to fade, higher wisdom will be sought. A teacher will appear - in this case, one who is practical and direct in giving the necessary advice - “clean up your life.” The goal with this combination is to develop wise-mastery over the material life and not be ruled by a craving for money and things. This means starting a purification program to moderate and balance the lower appetites and re-direct this force into higher creative projects. Mastery over the lower forces results in abundant mental and artistic talent.
Jupiter in Gemini. Uncontrolled fluidity, mental instability and shallowness expand in ordinary man. There are huge dreams, many ideas, a lot of talking, but without practical application. On a search to understand more about life, these people are constantly networking, connecting and exchanging information, they travel far and wide. Then, as the higher way is approached increasing sensitivity to the subtle messages of the soul will be heard. A wise and learned teacher will appear with a message to “Search for wisdom,” instigating a search for beauty and truth. The higher goal is to become a master of knowledge and of wisdom and those with this combination have the potential to become this - very wise and loving teachers and communicators.
Jupiter in Cancer. Jupiter is exalted in this sign. Negatively, this can accentuate materialistic tendencies. Unstable emotions will expand and so will hypersensitivity be, resulting in conflicted and unstable relationships. Positively, it gives a loving and supportive family. When the higher way finally calls, a wise and empathetic teacher will appear with a message to, “Balance the emotions and bring them under control.” The higher goal is to develop a clear and lighted consciousness, though which wisdom can flow. This will be achieved through spiritual practises and by exerting mental control. Wise people with this combination, radiate wisdom like a lighthouse piercing dark and dangerous waters so that the “lost” are guided home.
Jupiter in Leo. When the ego dominates the nature, the arrogance of the Lion expands. Proud, it is puffed up with its wonderfulness. But generally, so does enthusiasm for life expand, grand displays of fire and emotion, benevolence, generosity and joy. Eventually, when life-reversal occurs, a teacher will appear with the message, “Not thy will, but higher-will should be sought.” The higher goal is to become a wise and benevolent leader and this requires decentralisation of the ego and alignment with the soul, the source of wisdom. Self-control and spiritual practises bring this about. Wise leaders with this combination, are charismatic and have the power to warm the hearts of those seeking guidance like the rays of the sun warms the earth.
Jupiter in Virgo. Acquisitiveness, a love of trivia, criticism and judgment expand, obscuring the larger picture. Generally, so too does the ability to work generously and selflessly in the chosen area of service, especially in medicine and health. When the voice of wisdom is finally heard, the impact will cause a reversal of life direction. A prophet will appear with the message - “To become a wise teacher and healer, purify your mind and heart.” Right living-habits along with spiritual exercises to bring the mind and heart into balance, are required. Success will enable the foretold wise-teacher to emerge, one whose illuminating discourses and practical instructions will help many to be similarly transformed.
Jupiter in Libra. Negative traits that cause trouble in relationships can be exaggerated, such as indecisiveness and procrastination. But generally, this combination increases wisdom and there is a strong concern for justice. The natural diplomatic skills are enhanced and so is joy to be found in loving relationships. When the voice of wisdom is heard, a teacher will appear with the message, “Find the balanced, central way.” The higher goal is to develop a wise and judicious intelligence like that demonstrated by the legendary King Solomon. Expansion of the powers of the finely-honed intellect and bringing it into balance with an open and loving heart, this will bring about the required internal alignment and balance. Consequently, a sage will appear.
Jupiter in Scorpio. Courage and insight are enhanced. But so can lower desire and delusion be, and emotional bias and the distortion of perception. The emotional pain this creates will eventually trigger a search for knowledge and understanding so matters can be improved. A wise teacher will then appear with the message, “Climb out of the swamp of astral control and fight for your spiritual life until you are victorious. Reach for the Light (wisdom).” The higher goal is to balance and master the emotional-desire nature. The battle to do this could extend across lives, but when successful, intelligent-wisdom will be in control of the lower nature. Powerful and transformative teachers and healers could have this combination.
Jupiter in Sagittarius. Appetites are exaggerated and so is the desire to consume something - anything. But generally, the love of travel is enhanced and so is interest in philosophy, study, religion and foreign cultures. These adventures will eventually lead to the higher way and a teacher will appear with the message, “Vision the higher goal, reach it, then pursue another.” The higher goal is to develop a Master of the Wisdom. By following and reaching after higher ideals one after another, the pathway to the mountaintop is gradually scaled and the necessary expansions of consciousness are achieved. This combination gives the potential to dispense wisdom like the rays of the sun so that many will be inspired and drawn to listen and follow.
Jupiter in Capricorn. Avarice and material ambitions expand when Jupiter falls in this material sign. But overall it balances conservatism and caution with a more optimistic outlook and boosts the possibility of achieving professional status and career recognition. The higher goal is to develop wisdom in this material world and those with this combination will at some time have a crisis of faith and principle. The message is, “Climb down from the mountain of materiality and scale the mountain of spirituality.” If this advice is followed, rapid progress will be made so that consciousness expands. Those who have mastered the material life have the power to construct forms and organisations in the world to better humanity.
Jupiter in Aquarius. Ego-desire for knowledge and control expands with this combination. But so does the search for understanding through scientific experimentation or by seeking wisdom in original ways. These investigations will eventually lead to the higher way. A teacher will appear with the message, “Give all that you have to lift up those in need” - the higher goal with this combination is to become a world server and reformer. If the message is responded to, it will lead to the development of skills and the making of connections with appropriate groups and organizations so a real contribution to world good can be made. It results in a very learned and exceptionally capable humanitarian and teacher, with the power to distribute abundance and prosperity to the masses. Often, this will be through beneficial scientific discoveries.
Jupiter in Pisces. This can accentuate emotions that are already too-fluid and an urge for sensuous satisfactions. It can also enhance idealism, compassion and a spiritual or religious orientation. Development of the intelligence and personality integration will enable the higher way to be found. During this period, a wise teacher will appear with the message, “Follow in the footsteps of a Master and serve humanity.” The goal in Pisces is ever world-service. This leads to a search for wisdom and better ways to help the suffering. Eventually, a dedicated server of humanity will emerge, one who gives all to alleviate suffering and to disperse human ignorance. The ultimate task in Pisces is to be a world saviour.
