1. The progressed Sun.

• The progressed Sun entered Leo approximately 14 years before she died. As the personality was imbued with Leo leadership qualities, Diana became more assertive and self-confident.
• The Sun entered the eighth house of death, rebirth and transformation just before it went into Leo - 15 years previously. Her personality changed profoundly - a consequence of becoming very famous in the world and of the emotional trauma she suffered in her unhappy marriage. If she had lived, the eighth house experience would have lasted 48 years. There are 48-degrees from the cusp of the eighth house to that of the 9th.

2. Love and Marriage.

• When Diana married Charles on 29 July 1981, transit Neptune was on her ascendant. From there it squared her natal Juno during that period and for a couple of years after. She was blinded by adoration for Charles. But the marriage was for show and as she realised this and discovered Charles' betrayal with Camilla, she was emotionally wounded and grieved deeply.
• Uranus is often referred to as the divorce planet. When Diana and Charles divorced on 28 August 1996, solar-arc Uranus was at 26 Virgo, opposite natal Juno.
• Just before her death, the progressed Moon entered the seventh house of marriage. By then she had met Dodi El Fayed and appeared to be in love with him. If she lived and it all worked out, she could have married him.
• Progressed Mars was at 23 Virgo 39 in the ninth house. It was making a trine to natal Venus at 24 Taurus in the fifth house of love affairs. This aspect indicates a passionate love affair with a foreigner, which would receive world-wide public attention (Venus rules the MC, with Libra on that point).
• The progressed Moon would have crossed the natal Sun 15 months after she died (it moves 1 degree a month) - a propitious time for marriage. It would have remained in the seventh house for another 36 months approximately, before crossing into the eighth house.

3. Death. The death of an individual docs not always show in the chart, especially if it is unexpected. But it does register in the charts of loved ones who are left behind. Often, death can be a welcome relcase from physical impairment or disease. Another point is that the type of aspects under which death can happen - hard aspects involving the eighth house of death and malefics such as Saturn and Pluto. These occur regularly throughout the life and are usually indicative of psychological or emotional death-rebirth experiences (changes in character). Often, beneficial Jupiter is involved during the death process.

Diana has several indicators of death.

• Before her death, in March 1997, there was an eclipse at 3 Libra. It squared natal Mercury (3 degrees of Cancer), ruler of the 8th and of transport. This seems to have triggered events.
• With Cancer on the eighth house cusp, the Moon rules death. Solar-arc Moon was in the final degree of the zodiac - 29 Pisces. This indicates a major cycle is ending (this incarnation) and a new one is beginning.
• Mercury rules transport. Transit Mercury was retrograde in the 8th, conjunct natal Pluto, the planct that rules death. As we know, Diana died in a car accident.
• Additionally, transit Pluto was inconjunct natal Mercury - death involving a short car-journey.
• The second ruler of the 8th is the Sun, with Leo intercepted in that house. Transit Sun was in the 8th conjunct Pluto and opposite solar-arc Jupiter. The progressed Sun was also in the 8th, opposite transit Jupiter. It is unlikely Diana suffered for any length of time with beneficial Jupiter involved. Jupiter also rules the ascendant - Diana's body.
